About Us
The Talcott Mountain Science Center & Academy has a simple, yet powerful, mission -- inspiring today's children to invent tomorrow. We inspire a love of learning through discovery and engagement; we strive to be the catalyst that unlocks the potential within each individual, and to cultivate a future where innovative education empowers lifelong learning.
Since our inception in 1967, Talcott has trained thousands of teachers and educated hundreds of thousands of students through inspirational lessons using state-of-the-art technology and real-world applications. At our one-of-a-kind mountain campus, we offer summer, Saturday and vacation programs for students in grades K-8 and hands-on science programs suitable for the whole family. Education professionals, schools and youth organizations can benefit from our teacher/professional development programs, field trips to Talcott, and in-school programs that ‘bring the mountain to the classroom’.
In 1983, Talcott Mountain Academy was created as a division of the Science Center, paving the way for a new model of education — hands-on, inquiry-based STEM education where professional scientists bring their expertise into the classroom to teach students.
